Brie Ashlie is a painter living and working out of Houston, Texas.
Shortly after receiving her Bachelor's of Fine Art from Texas State University in 2018, she received her Master's of Fine Art from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020.
Brie's mixed media paintings reference bodies, patterns, and structures found in images she takes of her everyday inspirations. Using a series of these photographs, she collages as she paints, creating intimate interactions that fill the ambiguity between the composition and the elements of her subject.
Each painting explores a different facet of intimacy, relationships and connection. Through varying degrees of obscurity, viewers are asked to contemplate boundaries and the act of searching for a sense of self.
Carefully curated, her work aims to depict tangents or aspects of experiences and the connections between them.
